Three Pakistani soldiers killed on the Day of Eid in Indian border firing


Islamabad : At least three Pakistani troops were killed on the first day Eid when the Indian Border Security Force opened fire on the their border check post.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj-Gen Athar Abbas confirmed the incident while Speaking to BBCUrdu service and said that the Indian side had resorted to firing at a check post in Dudhnial region of the Neelam Valley sector.

Gaddafi's son Saadi offers to 'negotiate his own surrender'


Tropoli : According to a rebel commander claim in Tripoli, Colonel Gaddafi's son Saadi has called him to negotiate the terms of his own surrender.

The commander, Abdel Hakim Belhaj, told AP that Saadi first called him yesterday and asked whether his safety could be guaranteed. Belhaj says he told al-Saadi he would not be harmed but he would be treated according to the law.

The White Population becomes Minorities in Eight Big Cities of America


Washington : A rare census data published in Washington Post shows that among eight big-city metropolitan regions the white population have become minorities in the past decade.

Along with Washington, the regions surrounding New York, San Diego, Las Vegas and Memphis have become majority-minority since 2000. Non-Hispanic whites are a minority in 22 of the country’s 100-biggest urban areas.

Keep the ATMs Operational and full of cash on Eid, Banks told


KARACHI: On the occassion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the State Bank of Pakistan has told all commercial banks to keep their ATMs operations and full of cash to facilitate the people.

The ATM’s can stock up to Rs 2 million at a time with certain ATM’s capable of stocking Rs 3 million.

The State Bank has also issued new currency notes worth Rs 108 billion for Eid which is Rs13 billion more than last year

17 Japanese Bullet Trains Halted due to the Glasses of a Driver


Tokyo : A Japnese bullet train driver caused halt not only to his own but 17 other trains when he realized that he was not wearing glasses. The driver, who has worked for operators JR West for 24 years, reportedly started wearing glasses only earlier this month after narrowly missing the required score in an eyesight test.

This incident is unique as the bullet trains in Japan, which are capable of hitting speeds of 400 Km/h, are not only famously fast but also punctual, with rare delays generaly caused due to natural disasters or suicides on the tracks.

Rebel council Rejects UN Plan to Deploy Foreign Troops in Libya


Tripoli : Libyan Rebels has rejected the idea of deploying any kind of international military force, the UN envoy to the country has said.

Ian Martin said the UN had considered the deployment of military "observers" which was harshly rejected by Libyan Council as they feel that this could be like snatching the country from a dictator to give in foriegn hands.

Libyan Rebels Ultimatum is rejected by Gaddafi Loyalists


TRIPOLI : The Gaddafi loyalist have rejected the Ultimatum of Libyan rebels to surrender until Saturday or face military action against holdout towns. But Colonel Qaddafi’s chief spokesman was quoted on Wednesday as rejecting the deadline.Moussa Ibrahim said in a phone call to the headquarters of The Associated Press in New York that “no dignified honorable nation would accept an ultimatum from armed gangs."

August the Deadliest Month Ever In Afghan war


Washington : The month of August has claimed the lives of 66 U.S. service members in Afghanistan. According to The Associated Press that makes August the deadliest month in the nearly 10-year-old war. The previous record was in July 2010, when 65 service members were killed.

August's number includes the 30 American troops killed on Aug. 6, when insurgents shot down a Chinook helicopter.

FRAMINGHAM - President Obama's unlce who was arrested here last week on drunken driving and other charges has been a fugitive from deportation since 1992, according to two federal law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case.

Onyango Obama, who is from Kenya and is known as the president's Uncle Omar on his father's side, had lived a quiet life in Massachusetts until last Wednesday, when police said the car he was driving darted in front of a police cruiser, nearly causing the officer to hit his car.

US Muslims find Themselves the victim of Monitoring and Abuse


WASHINGTON : In a new poll carried out by Pew Research Center in US most of the Muslim-Americans say government antiterrorism policies single them out for increased surveillance and monitoring, and many report increased cases of name-calling, threats, and harassment by airport security, law enforcement officers and others.

More than 52 percent of Muslim-Americans surveyed said their group is singled out by government for terrorist surveillance. Almost as many - 43 percent - reported they had experienced harassment in the past year, according to the poll released yesterday. That share of people reporting harassment is up from 40 percent in 2007, the first time Pew polled Muslim-Americans.

Taliban will not Participate in Bonn Conference, Mullah Omer


Kabul : In an Eid message, the Taliban Leader Mullah Mohammad Omar said that the Taliban will not participate in Bonn Conference as it is only symboic and Afghanistan will not be represented by genuine representatives of Afghans in Bonn Conference.

He further siad that the topics that will be discussed at Bonn conference have already been decided upon in Washington and in the Pentagon. He expressed his opposition to the establishment of permanent US military bases in Afghanistan.
